Description
The institute was founded in 1926 as an agricultural station, which was restructured in 1992 into Donetsk institute of agricultural and industrial production (pursuant to the Order # 100 of the Ukrainian Academy of Agricultural Sciences of April 14, 1992).
Main directions of scientific research
Development of ecological forecasts and perfection of nature-protecting farming systems.
Creation of grains and forages varieties, perfection of their seed growing systems.
Development and implementation of resource-preserving and environmentally safe technologies for growing agricultural crops and making animal husbandry products.
Production and sales of high reproduction seeds and pedigree young pigs.
Scientific support of agricultural and industrial complex of Donetsk region. Scientific and research works are carried out on an experimental field (with an area of 268 hectares) and pedigree farm.
The Institute also has experimental farm where elite seeds of grains, leguminous plants, oil-bearing crops and forages are grown to provide for the renewal and replacement of varieties in farms of the region and products for sale are made, scientific developments are checked in production.
Now Donetsk institute is the main agricultural and scientific institution of the region, a center of scientific support for agricultural and industrial complex of Donetsk region. Over the years, the institute has seen fruitful work of E.F. Nemliyenko, V.E. Kozubenko, E.I. Admin, O.L. Bugutsky, B.V. Palferov (DPhils), honored agronomists of the Ukrainian SSR, laureates of the USSR State Prize and republican prize named after V.Ya. Yuriev, knights of Red Flag, Lenin and Honor token T.E. Tarasenko, I.T. Sokolov, I.D. Prohozhay, V.O. Logvinenko and other scientists. Selection and seed growing are leading directions of scientific and industrial activities.
The Institute has created and districted about 40 varieties and hybrids of agricultural crops, twelve of which are now in the State register of plant varieties of Ukraine. Seed growing work is conducted for 22 crops and about 50 varieties, hybrids and lines of leguminous plants, oil-bearing crops, annual and perennial herbs. Every year the Institute sells 3-2.5 thousand tons of elite seeds for renewal and replacement of varieties to the farms of the region. Research carried out by the Institute is protected by 48 certificates and 8 patents. The region’s farms are annually given for implementation twenty to twenty-five scientific developments, training of agricultural and industrial complex specialists is also conducted. The Institute’s team favors the development of agricultural science in Ukraine, implementation of innovations in the agricultural and industrial production of the region, constantly cooperates with Ukrainian and foreign scientific institutions.
